CRITICAL MINERALS and RARE EARTH ELEMENTS

Energy, raw materials, critical minerals, and precious metals have been the primary sources of the creation of empires. The lack of these elements have broken governments and destroyed nations.
— Lawrence Muir, CEO of the Muir Group

The United States is already experiencing a shortage of the critical minerals and rare earth elements that make up much of the everyday technology that Americans have incorporated into their lives. Other nations have developed strategic advantages in their access to these minerals, and that puts the United States at a competitive disadvantage against other nations vying to become hegemonic states.

The Muir Group recognized the deficit the United States faces today, and spotted the trend that this deficit would only worsen over time. Our portfolio company, CM Software, has begun to develop software-based technologies to improve the remote detection capabilities of American mineral companies so that they could more efficiently detect the locations of mineral deposits, identify the mineral compositions of those deposits, and reverse the trend so that the United States can have access to the critical minerals that continue to power American lives now and for the foreseeable future.
