He asked himself questions like, “Could we build a technological device to detect fentanyl entering the United States that could be operated at all times of day and at any location?” and “What data would I need to be able to predict where the next opioid overdose hotspot will be, and what emergency resources could we deploy ahead of time to meet it?” Technology, he believed, was the way to innovate our way out of a crisis.
